Every generation ends up doing something particularly stupid that the next generation looks at and thinks was absolutely crazy. For me I just can't comprehend how blacks have been treated in the past and the horrible things that white people did to them. It has only been 50 years since things got better and I am sure they are still worse in some areas in the world. The interesting question I have is, what is our generation going to do/done that is stupid?

This has all been sparked by music class. Around 1954-1958 there was this crazy cover version thing being done by the major labels. If a song like Sh'Boom [hear it] by the Chords (a black group) did well on the R&B charts it would be covered by the Major labels. They would take the song, change the lyrics to avoid any sexual connotations and have white groups like the Crewcuts from Ottawa sing it [hear it]. The latter group would be the one to scale the pop charts for 30 weeks or so and make all the money and have all the fame. The orgincal black group which wrote the song in the first place, they would get a whole lot of nothing.

Seems quite unfair doesn't it.
